Josh cargill

Josh Cargill is a bass trombone player from Northern Ireland, currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music with Christian Jones, where he is a scholarship holder supported by the William and Frances Dobie Foundation.

Starting in 2008, Josh began playing trombone through brass banding in the First Old Boys’ Band, Belfast. He currently plays with the Fairey Band from Stockport, having competed at contests such as the British Open in Birmingham Symphony Hall and the National Brass Band Championships in the Royal Albert Hall.

Josh also has a lot of orchestral experience, previously being principal bass trombone in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, RNCM Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Youth Orchestra and the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra where, in 2018, he was awarded the Stephen Parker Memorial Award for his commitment to ‪the orchestra‬.

Josh is now focussed on finishing his degree at the RNCM with hopes to make a career in music performance.
